In North Dakota when you step out of the house in January you say:
I dare say that if you suggest to someone from North Dakota that they call Uber for a ride they would would look at you with a blank stare and wonder what the heck you are talking about.
The word uber only came to my attention in the last year and from that point until earlier this week I assumed uber meant only one thing, an unlicensed taxi service.
WRONG again Bob-O
Of course the internet has all the answers and it says "uber" means: denoting an outstanding or supreme example of a particular kind of person or thing.
I also learned that it is really relatively new to the English language: Brought to the mainstream in the early 80's by hardcore American punk band, the Dead Kennedys
As a Realtor I'm always careful about what words I choose. Customers/clients may feel uncomfortable when you use words they have no clue as to their meaning. No one wants to feel "uncool" or even worse stupid.
I recommend that if you hear a new word you check it out before using it in a conversation with others. It doesn't hurt to keep abreast of new words by going to an online dictionary and requesting what new words have been added recently. It will expand your vocabulary and may be a reminder that many of your clients have yet to hear or understand it.
Keep on top of Real Estate knowledge and offer your clients uber service.
