SCAMS, SHAMS AND FLIMFLAMS!

Magician

The North Dakota Office of Attorney General puts out a nice "pocket sized" spiral bound publication called SCAMS, SHAMS AND FLIMFLAMS! It's approximately 75 pages and has a lot of good information for everyone. It covers everything from bad contractors, internet scams, email scams, you name it and it's in here in current terms.

For more information on how to obtain a copy contact the Office of Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division at 800-472-2600 or email cpat@nd.gov

Thanks for the information Bob.  This is definitely something we should all be aware of, and see that it gets updated often.  There are a lot of shady characters out there.

They do have a website Bruce Hicks but I'm not sure if you can download the book there. The web site address is www.ag.nd.gov

A representative  of the AG office gave a nice presentation to our Realtors group Bob Crane and I thought I'd pass it on to all.

We also need the media to be more pro-active about this stuff....what ever happened to public service announcements

Good question William Feela and why wait until some scams become an epidemic, get the word out and keep repeating it.

That is a great pamphlett for consumers so they know what they can do about bad contractors.

I'm dealing with a difficult situation right now involving a young contractor who is trying to be "BIG" right off the bat and doesn't realize how he is shooting himself in the foot.

Realman,  Now I thought that was going to be a list of the real estate agents who did bad things and got caught, had their license suspended or revoked. That’s my kind of reading. I like to see the riff-raff out of the industry.

Kathleen Daniels criticism in my MLS is met with hostility regardless of how small the point. I have already heard about my last post about a bad walk through. My post better informs current and future Sellers about walk throughs yet I was taken to the woodshed for saying anything negative. To me let's let it all out so consumers can see that we are policing ourselves and not covering it up like politicians.

Hi Bob "RealMan" Timm ,  That sounds like a great book that could be universal for all states.  I'll have to check it out.

That is a shame Bob. The public needs ... deserves transparancy. We cover that crap up and it serves no one.

It seems about the time we become aware of a scam or sham, the perpetrators are off on a new scam.  Their creativity always seems to be a few steps ahead of the law.

I would love to have the link to "Scams, Shams, and Flim Flams."  Oops!  I see it in the comment above.  Thank You!

I've saved this amazing post.  I just looked at the Table of Contents for the book!  What a great gift from Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem!
