The Surprise Package
Just two days after dropping my daughter off in Milwaukee WI for college I sent off the first "care package' to her. I could hardly wait for here excited call saying "Dad you did an awesome job, thanks for the care package".
So what do you put in the first care package you send off?
In Tina's case you send off her brothers book that she forgot, her pillow that she forgot, and some outlet strips she discovered she needed for her dorm room.
What does a frugal parent do when shipping a book and electronic items? You ask the postal clerk to send it "media mail" because it's a book and electronics with a pillow for packing so the stuff doesn't rattle around in the box.
The postal clerk, we will call her Alice (cause that was her name) would have none of it... she was outright nasty so I spent triple what I thought I should have to and sent it off regular postage. She was nasty to the point that on my way out I spotted the Postmaster and I asked him, is she always that crabby?
3 days, 4 days, 5 days later no phone call that the package had arrived and what a hero I was. In the meantime the book I sent to Active Rainer's Ron & A. was received at a far greater distance away than Milwaukee. 6, 7, & 8 days latter dad's thought of hero went to zero and I'm getting mad. Tracking showed the package dropping off the face of the earth on the 27 in/after Bismarck ND.
Days 9, 10, and 11 I fill out as many surveys and complaint forms as I can find including going back and visiting with the Minot Postmaster to see where on earth my dear little daughters pillow could be. I knew when he picked up that phone and started talking there would be an answer soon.
Today, 12 days later, the package mysteriously ended up at our door... NOT Tina's. My 1st reaction was "good, it's in perfect shape" as I was sure everything in it probably was run over by 100 postal vehicles while the workers laughed at our calamity.
So what did the sticker on the package have to say as to why it was returned... Please afix postage to package. Yes, Mrs Crabby pants Alice forgot to put the postage on the package after she chewed me out and made me pay triple the postage for the package.
The 1st thing on my calendar for Monday is to visit the Postmaster with my receipt, my daughters care package, and a request to please expedite Tina's care package.
