Yuck! My Least Favorite Chore.

I HATE PAINTING!

No ifs, and, or buts about it, painting is my least favorite chore. However I'd rather "man-up" then pay an outrageous amount for such a simple task.

The new office space I just leased this week is/was in desperate need of paint so Tina, Timmothy, and I put on our worst clothes and headed over for an initial assault on the old plaster and lathe walls. Here is the before picture. The after picture may have to wait until Monday.

Old paintThe color you see is much more putrid in person and no, I did not remove the mop boards... but I will be putting some in. Tina, Timmothy and I painted like some of the most famous painters of all time...

I recognize your helpers. If they can do it, you can.

Joseph Domino 480-390-6011 there was no doubt that I was the head stooge in this operation.

Your right it's to expensive when it's such a easy task. I with you on hating to paint but afterward it's all worth it. Paint makes such a dramatic difference.

I don't mind painting but I also hate paying anyone to do this

You just made my day Bob "RealMan" Timm bhahahaha that's something that we hated doing too . It's good you have great helpers. Congrats on your new office!

Hannah Williams I used to love watching the stooges when I was a kid. Kids can relate to the stooges always making a mess when starting out with good intentions.

It sure does Mike Baltierra . I went back tonight just to see how it was looking and I could not believe how much better it is even though we only got half way through it.

Latex has made it a lot easier William Feela but I think the paint we used today was oil... this was one of those 5 gallon metal paint cans with no label so I have no idea what I used (other than disposable brushes and rollers).

Thanks Abby Stiller I'm hoping this is my very last office move... ever! It will be my 3rd this year and last year I moved 4 times. (When you work with builder/developers that want you to have an office in a model home you get to move alot.)

Not a favorite chore here either....we have reasonable contractors...and that means it gets done!

There are no reasonable paint contractors in Minot (that I've met) Sally K. & David L. Hanson and they are usually booked about 9 months out.

Dear Bob,

Painting looks pretty easy, but it is not that simple to get a good finish. Prep is the most important and takes much longer than the actual painting itself. Working neatly avoids much cleanup after the fact.

Bob somewhere around age 25+ I recognized that I was not a handyman, nor a painter and from that time on I always paid for people who were good at it:) Endre

Morning Bob.

Like you I would rather watch reruns of Lawrence Welk instead of painting.  I do such a lousy job, my wife AKA "the boss", won't let me get near a paint brush

Good morning, Bob "RealMan" Timm  painting is a task that allows you to exercise your patience... it takes focus, control and patience to provide a good paint job with NO HOLIDAYS (missing spots!)

I'm with you Bob I do not like painting but usually bite the bullet and get it done. Love the photo....

Posted by Bob Ratliff, "Sold with Bob" (Robert Ratliff Realty) 20 days ago

I usually do a good job Dorte and this one is important to me as it will be my public office so as you say I will do good prep work and planning.

I get that Endre Barath, Jr. . I was "forced" to learn to be a handyman by purchasing a home at age 18 while working a minimum wage job. DIY was the only way I could aford to hold on to my home.

Love your story James Dray . I don't think my wife would stop me from trimming the top of a 40' tree... she's got her eye on that life insurance policy .

Loved the Three Stooges when I was a kid, Bob. Our grandkids were surprised that I knew all about them when they first discovered them... I think they thought they were "invented" just for them.

Me to Nina Hollander . My mother could not stand them so I had to kinda sneek them in... my kids had the same challenge as I did.

I "think" I got the job finished today Francine Viola . I left one wall the old color for contrast but I may change that after looking at it for a day or two.

I don't mind the painting.  It's all the prepping before the actual painting that I hate.

Posted by Myrl Jeffcoat, Greater Sacramento Real Estate Agent (GreatWest Realty) 19 days ago

This job is the first time I've used the 2" blue painters tape Myrl Jeffcoat and it made the prep a lot easier.
