It's been a full day for this old dog.
As usual Sunday morning starts with church. I run the worship screens at our church during the 8:15 AM service and recently I have become the "scripture reader" as well. These are duties I have asked for being I have very little other talent.
Immediately after worship we stopped at the Minot Rural Fire department's annual Pancake breakfast. I got to visit with my long time friend Rex, the Fire Chief and I also made some new friends with the couple sitting across from us.
After eating two pancakes the size of semi-truck tires (on the 1st day of my renewed diet) I decided it was time to get back to something I had not done for about 40 years.
Teach tennis. This was a huge challenge and a labor of love. My son Timmothy is in racket sports at school and he is just about to start tennis. I want to help him out being athletics are not his strong suit. So I, at 65, having had two heart attacks, suffering from osteoarthritis, having damaged my leg in an accident six weeks ago, decided to teach tennis as I did 40 years ago. BTW I'm a good teacher, I am perfect at lobbing any shot back to my student, no matter where they are on the court, so they can slam it back at me like a guided missile.
Next on the agenda was to change oil on Timmothy's car (it used to look like the one to the right but a little accident this winter has changed it's appearance) and to wash a couple of our vehicles. Later this summer I promised him a lesson in Bondo auto body as I learned it when I was his age.
Last of all on the chores end of things I replanted some new sprouts that have come up since my crop failure disaster.
All of these thing I enjoy even if they are "chores". The one fly in the ointment was that when it came to changing Timmothy's cars oil filter I had purchased the wrong one so we had to make a quick trip to the auto parts store to finnish the job. It would be whole nother post to talk about how I love the automotive engineers that do all they can so you and I can not work on our own cars. I have a strong recommendation where they can put the oil filter on this car!
